BROWNLOW medallist Tom Mitchell is set for a couple of light weeks on the training track after undergoing surgery to remove the metal plates and screws initially placed in his broken leg.
The Hawthorn midfielder broke the tibia and fibula bones in his left leg in an innocuous training incident on January 12.

Mitchell was weeks into running on an AlterG anti-gravity treadmill before the scheduled operation.
The Hawks' physical performance manager, Luke Boyd, told the club's website that Mitchell was "going well", but would take it easy in the coming weeks after his surgery.
They continue to list the 25-year-old as being out for the season, but he is considered some chance of returning late in the 2019 campaign if Hawthorn is in the finals hunt.

"From here, the plan is he'll have a couple of light weeks to recover from the surgery, then we'll look to build back his running volumes from there," Boyd said.
Fellow All Australian Chad Wingard (hamstring) and triple premiership star Isaac Smith (foot) missed last week's game against Greater Western Sydney but could return for Sunday's clash with Richmond.
Boyd said former Sun Jack Scrimshaw sat out most of the second half in the Giants match because of a "nasty migraine" that resulted in some blurred vision for the defender.
