ST KILDA defender Jason Blake is confident he'll be fit to face Collingwood in the semi-final this weekend after escaping serious shoulder damage in the first week of the finals.

Blake, 27, left the field during the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to Geelong after landing heavily on his side and appearing to injure his already-strapped shoulder.

He ran from the ground holding his arm steady and looked to have possibly suffered a dislocation.

Adding mystery to the situation was the Saints' media release on Monday that said the defender, who had been manning Tom Lonergan all afternoon, had suffered a dislocated thumb in the fall.

But Blake himself said his jarred shoulder was "fine" and he was planning to face the Magpies this Saturday night.

"It's going very well and I'm looking forward to the weekend," he said, at the AFL Players' Association MVP awards on Monday evening.

"I just jarred my shoulder a little bit but it's fine and I'm looking forward to Collingwood."

Midfielder Luke Ball will need to pass a fitness test this week to prove he is over the torn hamstring he suffered five weeks ago if he is to be named in the side.
