Geelong has secured Jed Bews as a father-son selection. The Cats will use its last selection in the national draft to add Bews to the list.

The AFL system allows all clubs to bid a draft pick for players that are eligible as father-son picks. If the club that the player qualifies to play with then wants to select the him, they must match the bid of the rival club. No other club made a bid for Bews.

Jed’s father Andrew played 207 games with Geelong from 1982-1993, captaining the club for two seasons. Andrew represented Victoria 12 times and played in the 1989 grand final.

Bews played three VFL games with the Cats this season and has spent the past two years with Geelong in the TAC Cup, kicking four goals in 26 games.
