THE TUCK family will reach a milestone this weekend when Richmond’s Shane Tuck steps out against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday at Telstra Dome.

Tuck’s fifth game of the season and 74th overall will means he and father Michael, who played 426 games for Hawthorn, will break the 500-game mark, a number achieved by only two other father/single son combinations in history.

Sergio (239) and Stephen Silvagni (312) combined for 551 games, while Ken (264) and Dustin Fletcher (280 and counting) have played 544 games as a father/single son duo. The Tuck name also features in fifth place in the all-time father/single son list, with Hawthorn’s Travis Tuck (five games) combining with his father’s all-time record number of appearances for a total of 431.

“The old man obviously with 426 games helps out a lot, but me and Trav will try and squeeze in a couple of games where we can,” Shane Tuck said.

The Tuck family won’t be the only one celebrating a milestone this weekend. Fremantle’s Peter Bell is set to play his 278th game against Adelaide on Saturday, the most games by a WA player in history, surpassing Wayne Richardson’s 277 games for Collingwood from 1966-78.

Collingwood skipper Scott Burns, should he be able to play after missing Sunday’s surprise loss to Carlton with a calf injury, will play his 250th game for Collingwood this weekend, while other pending milestones in round five include 200 games for Port Adelaide ruckman Brendon Lade and Brisbane onballer Luke Power, 150 games for West Coast ruckman Dean Cox, teammate and Eagles’ captain Darren Glass and Adelaide forward Ken McGregor, and 100 games for Richmond’s Graham Polak.
