North Melbourne captain Brent Harvey will make his return this Saturday as the club prepares to take on Port Adelaide in its NAB Challenge match.

The four-time Syd Barker medallist will be looking for his first win as leader of the club after missing the clash against Fremantle last week - a game in which the Kangaroos won by 97 points.

While Harvey will be eager to have some valuable match time against the Power, Vice-captain Drew Petrie will be rested after his heroic five goal performance in last week's win.

Runner up in last season's Syd Barker medal, Petrie relished a return to the forward line but deserves a much needed break with just three weeks until North Melbourne's round one match versus Melbourne.

However Petrie’s departure in no way leaves the side lacking in height with big man David Hale also making his return. Deputy vice-captain Brady Rawlings has also been slotted back into the midfield and will add some vital experience and direction.

Exciting draftees Jack Ziebell and Liam Anthony continue to hold down their positions after displaying plenty of potential and maturity in the lead up to the season proper.

In more good news for the club, courageous defender Daniel Pratt is expected to return next week after recovering from a severe rib injury.
