The 27-year-old has agreed to a contract extension that locks him in until the end of 2014 on the back of his stellar 2010 in which he won his third Copeland Trophy, the best player awards from the AFLPA and AFLCA, the Jim Stynes medal and was a premiership player.
He said his decision to extend his career with the club was evidence of his commitment to the Pies' campaign for sustained success after last year's grand final triumph.
"That's pretty much my career done, which is something I'm very proud [of], to be a Collingwood player for life," he said on Wednesday.
"I feel very honoured they want me for that long and I'm rapt it's over and done with and I can just get on with playing footy for Collingwood."
Swan denied he been personally approached by new team Greater Western Sydney, which had been reported to be interested in the ball winner and his soon-to-be out of contract teammates Scott Pendlebury and Dale Thomas.
"I would have been way down their list," he said.
"That had nothing to do with it. I love Melbourne and I love my friends and family and this is where I want to be.
"There's probably no better club to be at than Collingwood."
Swan said he hoped his two premiership teammates would follow his lead but could understand if they were tempted by rival offers.
"I hope [they stay] but I haven't really talked to them about it. They've sort of kept it to themselves and they'll work it out with their managers, but whether they stay or leave is not for me to decide," he said.
"It would be an amazing achievement if we could all stay together and have some more success on the field but football is a business these days so you can't really expect to be together forever.
"Eventually there are going to some changes, whether it's from the club or by the players leaving, so we'll have to wait and see."
Swan said he and his teammates were aware of the fact they were currently involved in something special with the Magpies the front-runners of the competition.
"At the end of the season after we won the flag, 'Maxy' spoke to us and said we can have long success and I think most of the boys know that," he said.
"They're not stupid. They know we've got a very talented list and we can go a long way in the next few years."
Meanwhile, Pendlebury's manager Liam Pickering said it was likely his client would also sign an extension with the Magpies.
"He's out of contract but I would think that Scotty, vice-captain of the club, would probably stay at Collingwood," he told Fox Sports.
"He's a wonderful player. Obviously he's a priority for Collingwood, as you would expect with the Norm Smith medallist."
On the eve of the NAB Cup grand final, Pendlebury spoke of his aspirations to captain the club one day.
Dane Swan is a $511,200 midfielder in the AFL Dream Team competition.
