RICHMOND star Nathan Brown says the last couple of weeks have been "hugely frustrating", and that it's not the kids who need the attitude adjustment.
Coming off a pummelling at the hands of Sydney the week before, the Tigers were excellent until half time against the Crows on Saturday before falling away to lose by 50 points.
Despite those results, the 199-game veteran said he could see positives from the weekend.
"It's been hugely frustrating – I mean, the Sydney game was a disaster. We went up there and copped a hiding – we didn't play good football, but on the weekend was probably more disappointing," he said.
"To be four goals up early and still two goals up half way through the third quarter and to lose by 50 points was a real kick in the guts, but I guess I'd be looking at the positives more so than the negatives.
"Adelaide are a good side, they're 8-3, they're probably going to finish top four, top five, and we were probably playing all over the top of them for two-and-a-half quarters.
"I guess that's where you are when you're a side where you've started to rebuild, you've got a lot of youngsters in the team – you play good football for patches, and you play poor football for patches.
"It's a time thing – the wheel always turns, and soon we'll be able to put together four quarters of football."
And Brown said it was the older players who needed to get lift their games in order to take the club forward.
"I think the young players have got good self-belief. They've come out of a system where they've got so much input into their daily lives – their diet, their skill level, all that sort of stuff – so they've got good self-belief in their own ability.
"I think it's more your middle range players and your senior players who need a little bit more self-belief for our footy club to go further.
"I think the young guys like Trent Cotchin, Will Thursfield – these sorts of guys have been fantastic.
"I think it's more your mid-range players and top-end players who need to step up a bit more."
