The AFL wishes to advise that a 2010 AFL premiership medal will be awarded to each playing member of this year's premier club, whether they play in the Grand Final only, Grand Final Replay only, or both Grand Final matches.

Through AFL history, premiership medals have been awarded to the members of the match-day side.

AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou said the AFL had determined that the rare situation of a drawn Grand Final meant there was the possibility this week that a player may play in the Grand Final, but not the Grand Final replay.

'It is the AFL's view that any player who has taken the field in either the Grand Final, or the Grand Final Replay, has had a role in his club winning the premiership,” Mr Demetriou said.

'As such, the AFL will present a premiership medal to the 22 members of the winning team in this Saturday's match, as well as any player who played in last week's team and misses this week's game for any reason,' he said.
