Honest feedback no issue for Dockers: Mundy
Players welcomed Ross Lyon's immediate post-derby critique, says newly re-signed midfielder
DAVID Mundy escaped Ross Lyon's wrath in the immediate aftermath of Saturday's win over West Coast but he says that kind of feedback isn't unusual at Fremantle.
Lyon walked amongst his players prior to the Western Derby post-match presentations, singling out several for sharp and pointed feedback on mistakes made during West Coast's comeback from 24 points down at three-quarter time to hit the front halfway through the final term.
The Dockers found another gear to kick away again and win by seven points but Lyon was clearly unimpressed.
Mundy said it was not unusual for Lyon to deliver such a message in that manner.
"That kind of immediate feedback isn't something that we shy away from or isn't something that's abnormal to this club," Mundy said.
"It's something that we embrace. We understand they're not personal attacks, they're just helping to improve the individual and the behaviour to fall in line with the team morals."
Mundy couldn't pinpoint what the exact issues were as he was quietly pleased he did not catch the coach's eye.
"I think there were a number of issues that he was raising post-game," Mundy said.
"But I wasn't privy to those conversations I'm afraid."
The Dockers face Melbourne on Saturday night in Darwin, searching for a seventh straight win to maintain their place in the top four.
Fremantle appears set to welcome back veteran defender Luke McPharlin from his medial ligament strain. He trained strongly on Tuesday morning but Mundy said McPharlin would need to get through the rest of the week before he could be declared a definite starter.
"I think he's got to get through training and jump all these hurdles and do all these fitness tests and stuff," Mundy said.
"But it's good that he's back up with the boys and back into the footy drills. It's really good to have him back."
