The Brisbane Lions, in partnership with McDonald’s, have helped launch a special Community Grant to help Queensland-based community groups and clubs impacted by the recent floods and Cyclone Yasi.

The McDonald’s Queensland Community Grant initiative will offer eligible clubs throughout the State an opportunity to apply for a one-off cash or equipment grant up to the value of $10,000.

Lions Senior Coach Michael Voss said his Club welcomed the chance to be part of a program which directly helps the Queensland community.

“Being a Queensland club ourselves, the Lions have been touched by the tragedies of the floods and Cyclone Yasi that caused so much damage and hurt over the past few months,” Voss said.

“The McDonald’s Queensland Community Grant is a fantastic initiative which allows community organisations the opportunity to rebuild what they’ve lost.”

“The Lions are ready, willing and able to help, and together with McDonald’s, are committed to getting the community back on its feet as soon as we can.”

Queensland Licensee Committee President Adam Dando said the grants would help clubs cover the cost of vital items.

“Eligible clubs can apply for a grant to help them replace essential items such as equipment, uniforms or broken whitegoods,” Dando said.

“As an integral part of the local community, McDonald’s and McDonald’s licensees enjoy great relationships with local clubs and naturally want to help get our communities back on track.”

To apply for a grant, eligible clubs and groups should fill out the online application form at www.mcdonalds.com.au by Friday 18 March 2011. All successful applicants will be notified by McDonald’s after entries close.
