A FEAST of footy action takes place on Saturday as clubs finalise preparations for what promises to be a bumper 2013 season.

Melbourne travelled north to face Gold Coast at Southport, with the Suns proving to good.

Port Adelaide has an opportunity to check its improvement when it hosts 2012 premiers the Sydney Swans at AAMI Stadium.

North Melbourne and Hawthorn will clash in Melbourne's outer-north suburb of Craigieburn, Richmond and the Western Bulldogs enter enemy territory at Visy Park while St Kilda travels to NSW to play the Giants at Blacktown.

Adelaide, Essendon, West Coast and Fremantle have the weekend off due to their earlier round one commitments.

On Friday night, the Brisbane Lions were crowned NAB Cup champions for 2013 after they accounted for Carlton at Etihad Stadium.

Meanwhile, Geelong easily accounted for Collingwood at Simonds Stadium on Friday, while injury-prone Bomber Scott Gumbleton snagged five goals in a VFL practice match.
