EXCITING Western Australian prospect DayleGarlett will finally get his chance in the big-time, AFL national talentmanager Kevin Sheehan believes.
Garlett was overlooked in last year's NABAFL Draft because of off-field issues, but a solid contribution to WAFL sideSwan Districts and a new level of maturity means the 19-year-old will be aready made player for any team.
However, views are split on Garlett, with clubsbeginning to believe on Thursday that he might be passed over again.
"I think he'll get his chance, I thinkhe deserves a chance," Sheehan said hours ahead from Thursday night's draft.
"He's improved dramatically this yearin terms of the personal issues, the off-field stuff. "
"His talent's always been there, kicking 50 goals this year at senior level - he can do some special things withthe footy.
"I think the young boy is just growingup now and understanding how badly he wants to play the game.
"I think there'd be a handful of clubsprepared to take a punt, the 20s or the 30s; I reckon he'll definitely go, butlet's wait and see."
Garlett has been strongly linked toHawthorn, while Essendon has also shown interest. Both South Australian clubshave ruled out selecting him.
Sheehan predicted the 2013 draft couldprovide one of the best top 10 groups of all time.
The Gold Coast is buzzing with anticipationahead of the selection meeting.
Recruiters were having final meetings overbreakfast and then lunch, as clubs finessed their strategies for the evening.
