THE WESTERN Bulldogs are off to the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night to challenge Hayden Crozier's one-game suspension for a dangerous tackle on North Melbourne's Jack Mahony.

The defender was charged with rough conduct and the tackle was assessed as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

Crozier's case will be just the second taken to the Tribunal this season and will be done via video link with the Dogs based in the Gold Coast quarantine hub from Monday.

Mahony left the field with blood coming from his face after the tackle but returned to play out the game.

Neither of Mahony's arms were pinned in the fourth-quarter tackle.

The AFL opted to put a bigger emphasis on dangerous tackles after round two following Hawthorn's Shaun Burgoyne's sling tackle on Geelong's Patrick Dangerfield.

The Match Review guidelines were immediately amended to change the 'potential to cause injury' clause from 'spear tackle' and 'driving an opponent into the ground when his arms are pinned to 'any dangerous tackle'.

The guideline around rough conduct (dangerous tackles) also changed from 'arms' to 'arm' being pinned, however this shouldn't impact Crozier.

Kangaroo Shaun Higgins will also challenge his $1500 fine for forceful front-on conduct against Crozier, while Fremantle veteran David Mundy is challenging his $750 fine for misconduct against Adelaide's Brad Crouch.
