Aaron Edwards has committed to North Melbourne for another year after his most consistent season.

The 27-year old reinvented himself as a medium-sized forward in 2011 and finished with a career-high 36 goals - the second most at the club behind Drew Petrie with 48.

He averaged 12 disposals, six marks and two goals per game in a promising season.

“We were really pleased with the way in which Aaron approached his footy this year,” North chief of football Donald McDonald told kangaroos.com.au.

“We rated his work ethic and commitment extremely highly and we were particularly pleased with his ability to adapt and change his game-style under Brad.”

Edwards’ highlights included six goals playing Melbourne in round eight and a five goal haul against Gold Coast in round 12.

He will enter his sixth year at North Melbourne with plenty of optimism having proven many doubters wrong.

“It’s a real credit to him that he’s been able to turn things around,” McDonald added.

“We think there’s lots of room for improvement in Aaron and his best footy is still ahead of him, but there’s no reason to think he won’t live up to that potential.”

Edwards was second at the club for marks in 2011 with 116.
