The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the matches played in round six of the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. The following charges were laid:

Charges laid:
Toby Greene, GWS Giants, has been charged with striking Caleb Daniel, Western Bulldogs, during the third quarter of the Round Six match between the GWS Giants and the Western Bulldogs, played at UNSW Canberra Oval on Friday April 28, 2017.

In summary, he can accept a two-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Western Bulldogs Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct with medium impact to the head. The incident was classified as a three-match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a two-match sanction.

Nat Fyfe, Fremantle, has been charged with striking Elliot Yeo, West Coast, during the third quarter of the Round Six match between Fremantle and West Coast, played at Domain Stadium on Saturday April 29, 2017.

Luke McDonald, North Melbourne, has been charged with striking Michael Barlow, Gold Coast Suns, during the second quarter of the Round Six match between North Melbourne and the Gold Coast Suns, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday April 29, 2017.

Lachlan Hansen, North Melbourne, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Touk Miller, Gold Coast Suns, during the third quarter of the Round Six match between North Melbourne and the Gold Coast Suns, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday April 29, 2017.

In summary, he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Gold Coast Suns Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was a second classifiable offence and therefore was classified as a $2500 sanction. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1500 sanction.

Toby Nankervis, Richmond, has been charged with striking David Mackay, Adelaide Crows, during the third quarter of the Round Six match between Richmond and the Adelaide Crows, played at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday April 30, 2017.

In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Adelaide Crows Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a one-match sanction.

Other incidents assessed
Contact between the GWS Giants' Jacob Hopper and the Western Bulldogs' Bailey Dale from the third quarter of Friday's match was assessed. The panel said the ball was loose with Hopper and Dale coming to the contest. Hopper comes from Dale's left side and has his arms in front of him, looking towards the ball, when he makes contact to his opponent as Dale is bending down. Hopper also makes contact with the ball with his feet as he is moving towards the contest with a free kick paid to Dale for the contact. It was the view of the panel that Hopper was contesting the ball and no further action was required.

Contact between the GWS Giants' Shane Mumford and the Western Bulldogs' Tom Liberatore from the fourth quarter of Friday's match was assessed. The ball was bounced in the centre for a ruck contest and Liberatore took possession of the ball. The Bulldogs' player was immediately tackled by Mumford who took him to ground. Mumford did not lift or rotate his opponent in the tackle and the tackle consisted of one action. It was the view of the panel the tackle was not unreasonable in the circumstance and no further action was taken.

Contact between the Sydney Swans' Lance Franklin and Carlton's Alex Silvagni from the first quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. Franklin makes high contact with an open hand and a free kick was paid at the time for the contact. It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a report. No further action was taken.

Contact between North Melbourne's Jack Ziebell and the Gold Coast Suns' Brandon Matera from the second quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. The ball was loose with Ziebell and Matera coming to the contest. Ziebell is making position for the ball and makes high contact and a free kick was paid at the time. It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a report. No further action was taken.
