DUMPEDformer West Coast premiership star Daniel Chick has been snapped up to play forreigning West Australia Football League premiers Subiaco next season.
Thecontroversial Chick was delisted by the Eagles at the end of last season, andwas then caught up in the police sting which led to the sensational sacking offriend and former teammate Ben Cousins.
Despiteno charges emanating from that, no AFL team picked up the 31-year-old Chick -leading to local powerhouses Subiaco swooping to strengthen their playing stocks.
CoachScott Watters said he was entirely comfortable with Chick coming to his club, despite his off-field dramas.
"Froma football perspective he has got at least two or three years at WAFLlevel," Watters told the Fairfax radio network.
"Anycoach, anyone who has been associated with Daniel Chick, has always spoken veryhighly of his leadership qualities within a group.
"Byhis own accord he will say that last year was one that he wants to forget, alot of speculation and innuendo surrounded West Coast and I think at timesDaniel has been unfairly dragged into a lot of that.
"Ihave no issue with Daniel Chick coming on-board ... probably the hardest thingis sorting what is truth and fact, and what is fiction."
Oneof the Eagles' best players in their semi-final loss to Collingwood lastSeptember, Chick was overlooked in the pre-season draft, effectively ending his12-year AFL career.
Atug of war then developed between Chick's former WAFL club East Fremantle andWest Perth.
Butinstead Chick, a veteran of 149 games with the Hawks and 103 with the Eagles, will line up with the Lions.
