Geelong Cats’ coach, Mark Thompson, revealed today his secret weapon that leaves nothing to chance when it comes to communications between his coaches and the bench on match days.

Partnering with Motorola, a communications global leader, the Cats have adopted a custom built two-way radio solution that stops eavesdropping and allows up to 10 simultaneous conversations.

Introduced recently, the encrypted, digital radios ensure Geelong’s coaches are no longer relaying timely and sensitive game plans at the mercy of outdated, analogue technology.

“The radios Motorola has built for us are easy to use and the encrypted security gives us extra confidence in the system,” said Thompson. “We have a technological advantage over any other team in the league.”

The mobile nature of the equipment also lets the Cats enjoy the convenience of using the same equipment no matter where they play.

Motorola’s ANZ general manager for channel business, Moira Quigley, said “We are thrilled by the performance of the system we have built for the Cats, using technology that is similar to what we provide to Australia’s law enforcement agencies. We are proud to partner the Geelong Cats and are looking forward to another hugely successful 2008.”
