CTV > Scott Pendlebury is interviewed by CTV on the night

In his third season at the club, Scott Pendlebury has finished in the top three of the Copeland Trophy voting in the last two years.

In 2007 he played the bridesmaid role finishing one vote behind Copeland Trophy winner Travis Cloke.

This year the 20-year-old finished the night with 46 votes, seven votes off the pace from first place.

He finished the year ranked second at the club in both total disposals (518) and tackles (77).  He was third in the team in contested possession (163) proving he is turning into a hard-ball specialist.

Overall pick five in the 2005 draft, the boy from Gippsland is quickly turning into an elite midfielder.

Pendlebury found his feet this season in round five in the loss against North Melbourne.  He had 25 possessions and kicked one goal.

The next week Pendlebury continued to shine, leading the team in disposals (33) and tackles (7).

A consistent patch of football during this period propelled him up the Copeland Trophy leader board and he looked to have solidified a top five place by the end of the night.

In his third finals campaign of his short career, Pendlebury was magnificent earning two votes from the coaches in the preliminary final.  A performance with 24 touches and seven marks at an 89% efficiency rate reinstated the belief that he excelled during finals.

The loss against St Kilda was equally as impressive for Pendlebury finishing the night with a team-high 23 possessions, eight of those contested.

The youngest member of the leadership group, Pendlebury will help lead the new nucleus of young players at the club.

It was also the first year he was included in the leadership group.

“It was beneficial for me to be a part of the leadership group this year,” Pendlebury told collingwoodfc.com.au after he accepted the J. J. Joyce Trophy.

“I really enjoyed playing with this great group of players and I am really looking forward to the 2009 season.”
