COLLINGWOOD has named key forward Chris Dawes in its team for Friday night's preliminary final against the Sydney Swans at ANZ Stadium, but Alan Didak has been left out after failing to overcome his calf problem.

Ben Sinclair, who last played in the Magpies' qualifying final loss to Hawthorn, has replaced Didak in the Magpies' line-up.

The other three teams in action this weekend, the Sydney Swans, Hawthorn and Adelaide, made just four changes between them.

The Swans have replaced small forward Ben McGlynn (hamstring) with defender Heath Grundy.

The Hawks have replaced half-forward Brendan Whitecross (knee) and defender Tom Murphy (omitted) with big game specialist Jordan Lewis and premiership wingman Clinton Young.

And the Crows have replaced defender Sam Shaw (hamstring) with fellow backman Andy Otten.

Didak was subbed out at three-quarter time of Collingwood's win over West Coast last Saturday night at the MCG.

The calf soreness then resulted in the 29-year-old missing Wednesday's main training session, and he wasn't part of the Magpies' squad that flew to Sydney on Thursday afternoon.

Dawes suffered a right knee injury early in the last quarter of the victory over the Eagles.

He looked severely restricted by the injury early in the week, but proved his fitness with a strong performance at training on Wednesday.

If Dawes is a late withdrawal, he is likely to be replaced by youngster Jackson Paine, who has been named as an emergency, along with Martin Clarke and Paul Seedsman.

Despite having a week's rest after the Swans' qualifying final win over Adelaide, McGlynn has failed to recover from his hamstring strain.

In an interesting move, the Swans elected against bringing another small forward into their line-up, with Grundy, who missed the qualifying final due to suspension, returning instead to shore up the backline.

Two forwards, Trent Dennis-Lane and Tommy Walsh, are among the Swans' three emergencies. Speedster Tony Armstrong is the other one.

The return of Lewis is a big boost for Hawthorn, which takes on Adelaide at the MCG on Saturday evening.

He was a late withdrawal from the Hawks' qualifying final win over Collingwood, but trained strongly during the week.

Young has also trained well after recovering from the calf problem that kept him out of the clash with the Magpies two weeks ago.

Hawthorn's three emergencies are Murphy, ruckman Max Bailey and defender Kyle Cheney.

The Crows have chosen to make a like-for-like change, with Otten getting a chance to re-establish himself in the team in the wake of Shaw's hamstring injury.

Otten, who was the runner-up to Daniel Rich in the 2009 NAB AFL Rising Star Award, has struggled for form and fitness this season.

The 23-year-old missed a number of games during the middle of the year after needing surgery to repair torn medial cartilage in his knee.

Adelaide's emergencies are ruckman/forward Josh Jenkins and midfielders Brodie Martin and Aidan Riley.
