After spending most of his career as a run-with midfielder, Rawlings was handed a fresh challenge by Brad Scott in 2010 as a defender.

In his 12th season at the club, the Tasmanian veteran didn't show any signs of slowing down and relished his new role. Rawlings was pivotal to North Melbourne's successes with his run and carry out of defence, but he still managed to shut down his direct opponent.

He kicked the winning goal against the Hawks in a fitting return to his home state, and his round 19 effort against the dangerous Stephen Hill earned much praise from coach Brad Scott and the wider football world.

Rawlings finished among the elite midfielders for possessions, and capped off the season with his third Syd Barker Medal, sharing the honour with captain Brent Harvey.

AFL.com.au’s Steve Lavell says: Proud clubman who produced another excellent season. Had the high-possession pressure role of rebounding from the backline, but can also shut an opponent completely out of the game. See Stephen Hill in round 19.

I rate Brady highly. He's awesome and shows great leadership for the youngsters coming through as well.
