SYDNEY Swans’ assistant coach John Blakey said the management of Adam Goodes’ groin injury, which has confined him to a role up forward of late, has been frustrating for the dual Brownlow Medallist.

Blakey confirmed that Goodes had “a light week on the training track” and is still not ready to return to the engine room for Friday night’s semi-final match up with the Western Bulldogs.

“Inside all of us we want to produce our best football,” Blakey said.

“He’d love to be running around through the midfield. Unfortunately we can’t have him doing that. He’s just not capable of doing that at present.”

Having beaten North Melbourne by 35 points in last weekend’s elimination final Blakey insists that the Swans will go into Friday night’s contest with confidence, having had several key squad members return to form.

“You like going in having really good form so we can do that this week because a lot of the boys are back playing the way we know they can. We’re pretty happy with the way we played last week. We’ve just got to make sure that we turn up again this week.”
