Of course the entire Western Bulldogs playing group will be on hand for autographs and photos at this weekend’s Community Festival & Family Day, but this year, there’s more than just football on show.

Now in its second year, the Western Bulldogs Community Partner Showcase will give you the chance to learn about what else is happening in the west and offer some great programs you can get involved in. The event aims to embrace the entire community and bring together the passion of the AFL with the diversity of the Western Suburbs.

Some of our Community Partners that will be participating in our Showcase this year include: The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Western Chances, Western Health, Pivot West and The Warwick Foundation.

The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation

The BRF perpetuates the memory of members of the Victoria Police killed in the line of duty through the support of worthwhile community projects within Victoria. By taking the steps to honour their memory and ensure their sacrifice is acknowledged, the BRF develops a range of projects that benefit the wider community.
The Westgate Branch of the Blue Ribbon Foundation has obtained approval from the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation Board to undertake renovations of the Emergency Ward of the Western Hospital Footscray and to meet the cost of the renovations which is $125,000.00. They are aiming to raise this amount by September 2011 and the project will be named in honour of Timothy Lewczuk who was killed whilst on duty.  Pay them a visit on the day to find out more about the great work they do for our community.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

JDRF are committed to working tirelessly to develop new and better treatments to improve the lives of people who have type 1 diabetes and keep them as healthy as possible. There are 122,300 Australians with type 1 diabetes, and with six new cases every day, Australia has one of the highest rates in the world. The number of Australian children being diagnosed with this disease is increasing by 3% every year. If you would like further information on Juvenile diabetes please see the friendly people at the JDRF stall on the day.

Western Health
Western Health provides public heath care to the community through its three hospitals Sunshine, Footscray and Williamstown. If you have any health inquiries, be sure to stop by and chat with the team.

Pivot West

The Warwick Foundation
The Warwick Foundation is the first and only Non-Profit Charitable Organisation in Australia focusing on supporting young adults on their cancer journey. Be sure to stop by and show your support.
