Nick Davis has been selected to play Melbourne on Saturday night while Amon Buchanan remains questionable after suffering a knee injury last weekend.

Davis limped off with a foot injury in round one, after booting two straight, and missed three weeks.

His return will further boost the Swans’ forward line potency against a desperate Demons outfit.

Davis comes in for Heath Grundy who will return to the reserves to gain more match fitness after missing several weeks of the pre-season due to a back injury.

Coach Paul Roos would have preferred to have given Davis a run in the twos last weekend but believes he will still be match fit.

“Nick passed a solid fitness test earlier in the week,” Roos told sydneyswans.com.au prior to the main training session on Thursday afternoon at the SCG.

“Ideally we would have liked him to have a run in the reserve grade but they had a bye last weekend. Obviously he will be fitter for the run but we know his goal kicking capacity and certainly he is fit enough to play.

“Heath was probably rushed into the senior team anyway due to Nick’s absence so he will go to the reserve grade for the time being.

“At this stage we will name Amon and give him as long as possible, however, he is doubtful and if he doesn’t come up Jarred Moore will take his place.”

Meanwhile, Jared Rivers, Travis Johnstone and Brent Moloney will return from injury for the Demons but their wounded list continues to grow with Brad Green, Paul Wheatley, Nathan Jones and Matthew Whelan ruled out.

They will also debut two youngsters in Ricky Petterd and Colin Garland.
