The claws came out at North Melbourne training on Wednesday with several heated exchanges taking place on the Arden Street Oval.
It was no surprise to see Daniel Pratt as the main antagoniser during several stoushes.
In one instance Pratt fell heavily on to club captain Brent Harvey and the little champion responded with fire in his eyes.
“He clearly couldn’t handle being run down from behind,” Pratt joked to kangaroos.com.au.
“Seriously though, I tackled Boomer and the ball went to ground and I just tried to climb over him to get to the ball…there may have been contact with his head on the way through…he didn’t like it.”
A minor scuffle ensued but it didn’t end there.
“I ran off to defend the incoming play and Boomer came at me from behind and threw me to the ground. Then we went on with it for a bit. I had no idea what was happening and ended up on the bottom.
“I thought it was pretty funny…Boomer didn’t.”
kangaroos.com.au spoke to Harvey in the gym following the skills session to get his version of events.
“It was a cheap shot,” Harvey said.
“That’s why I reacted. These big hulking backmen who throw all kinds of weights around in the gym get frustrated out on the track because they can’t keep up with us skilled guys. They resort to taking cheap shots in order to get a touch. Pratty’s been doing it for years.”
Pratt was also involved in a wrestle with Matty Campbell several minutes later.
“That was Matty’s fault. We seem to have angry little men at this footy club,” Pratt added.
But Campbell fired a salvo right back at the experienced defender.
“If he can’t handle a man’s game, he should go back to Queensland and play cricket,” Campbell said.
After time to ponder over their actions, Pratt says all have shaken hands and made up.
“We’ve had a chuckle about it after training. There’s no hard feelings…we all sit close to each other in the locker room being numbers 29, 30 and 33.”
