Movember, the month formerly known as November, is in full swing at the Hawks.

Players and male footy staff are participating in Movember, an initiative where men (or ‘mo bros’) grow moustaches to raise awareness for depression/anxiety and prostate cancer.

Before the team returned to training on 1 November, Brent Guerra sent a message to all players and footy staff to put the razors away for the month.

In an added twist on the Movember tradition, each time a player or staff member shaves, they must donate $100 to the cause.

Over the course of the month, hawthornfc.com.au will include photos of the players’ increasing facial hair from around the Club.

Brent and the boys are encouraging men across the country to follow their lead and get involved.

Support the Hawks as they grow their ‘mo’s by making a donation to Brent and the boys' mospace page.

Check out photos of players’ mo’s at the end of week one on facebook.

Movember is a major fundraiser for the Hawks’ Major Community Partner - beyondblue.

The Movember Foundation works with beyondblue throughout the year to help change the face of men’s health in Australia and works to:

  • Generate awareness of depression, anxiety and related disorders
  • Reduce the associated stigma
  • Encourage men to talk about these conditions
  • Encourage men to seek help for themselves or their mates

For more information or to register for Movember, go to www.movember.com.

beyondblue is a major beneficiary of the campaign, with The Movember Foundation committing $9 million to beyondblue from funds raised in 2009.
