Sydney Swans doctor Nathan Gibbs says Craig Bolton will be rested for eight weeks to help him recover from chronic Achilles tendonitis.

Scans today on co-captain Bolton’s ankle revealed his tendonitis was aggravated during last Saturday’s game against the West Coast Eagles.

“We need to let Craig rest to overcome this injury,’’ Gibbs said.

“He’s been playing all season without being 100 per cent, but now the injury has been aggravated and we want to let it heal.

“We’re hoping to get him back on the field in eight weeks, and that he’ll be 100 per cent right then for the rest of the season,’’ Gibbs said.

Bolton is disappointed but determined to get back on the field in two months.

“It’s disappointing but I’m confident that this rest period will allow me to get back in good shape for the last part of the season,’’ Bolton said.

“The boys have been playing really well and I’m confident they can keep that up as we go into a tough month of matches. I’ll be there supporting them all the way.’’
