On Saturday 30 November, 25 of the Northern Territory’s greatest AFL heroes were inducted into the AFL Northern Territory Hall of Fame.

The inaugural list of 25 was comprised of 19 inductees and 6 legends of the game that have contributed over and above to the game.

Among the 6 ‘Legends’ inductees were former Brisbane Lions champion Darryl White, who played 286 games for the Bears and Lions from 1992 to 2005, and Michael McLean, who won the Brisbane Bears' Best and Fairest in 1991 and 1993.

AFLNT Hall of Fame committee Chairman Bryan Moroney said that the Hall of Fame was established to ensure that the names of its members are remembered for generations to come.

“We have had to recognize this distinct set of individuals as their name immediately springs to mind when talking about NT football. Their exploits and achievements, on and off the field have put the Territory on the map when it comes to AFL football,” said Moroney.

The six legends that were inducted into the AFLNT Hall of Fame were Michael Long, Darryl White, Bill Dempsey, Michael McLean, Maurice Rioli and David Kantilla.
