North Melbourne vice-captain Drew Petrie will require surgery next week to repair a broken bone in his foot.
Petrie met with a specialist today and will need to have a screw inserted into the 5th metatarsal in his right foot in order to help it heal properly.
The 27 year-old is expected to be sidelined for around 6 weeks.
