RUCKMEN are the giants of our game, and we want you to tell us who towered above the pack in season 2017.
The nominees are ...
Shane Mumford
While GWS' midfielders and forwards provide the polish for the Giants, this former Cat provides the grunt. Mumford is famous for his brute force, and it has been on show throughout another strong season, which sees his side enter the finals as a genuine premiership contender.
Paddy Ryder
Any doubts that Ryder could return to his best after a season-long suspension have this year been proven wrong. His ability to give his Port Adelaide midfielders first use has been sensational this year, highlighted by his match-winning hit-out to teammate Robbie Gray in their thrilling round 19 win over St Kilda.
Matthew Kreuzer
The former No.1 NAB AFL Draft pick has had one of his best seasons yet, showing his versatility with strong efforts in the air and at ground level. Kreuzer has also been able to hit the scoreboard regularly and will be one of the fancies to take home Carlton's best and fairest.
Sam Jacobs
'Sauce' has flourished since heading to Adelaide from Carlton in 2010 and become a mainstay in leading ruckman calculations. A dominant Showdown performance in round 20 boosted Jacobs' chances of claiming the coveted spot as the All Australian team's number one ruckman.
Ben McEvoy
In a year in which the Hawks have struggled with consistency, McEvoy has been a welcome sign of steadiness throughout the season. The big Hawk has been one of Hawthorn's best this year, and has played a crucial role in the successful introduction of new teammate Tom Mitchell.
Brodie Grundy
The Collingwood big man has taken his game to another level this season, confirming himself as one of the elite ruckmen in the competition. Grundy is as competitive at ground level as he is in the air, and has become one of the most important of all the Magpie players.
