POSITION DETAILS:

The Sydney Swans are currently accepting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals in the position of General Manager - Sponsorship & Sales.

Reporting to the Chief Executive in the Clubs Sponsorship & Sales Department, this position will have prime responsibility for the retention and growth of revenue sourced from corporate supporters. The position involves both selling and servicing corporate partners and sponsors. The Club is driven to ensure that our corporate supporters value the benefits to their business of a long-term association with the Sydney Swans.

Typical inventory includes hospitality and dining (suites and boxes), signage, apparel, access to players, coaches and unique experiences, access to our supporter base and viewers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grow sponsorship revenue in accordance with the Business Plan. To that end, sell and service (manage the relationship).
  • Deliver sponsorship benefits and provide a quality service.
  • Grow corporate partner revenue (seasonal plus casual) including hospitality, boxes, suites, signage and events in accordance with the Business Plan.
  • Grow coterie groups (Roosy’s Red & Whites and Blood Brothers) such that they have critical mass, are profitable and sought after.
  • Improve our access to the Sydney Business community - leverage Directors networks, Centre Circle and our membership of the Chamber of Commerce and Committee for Sydney.
  • Manage the Sydney Swifts/Netball NSW relationship.
  • Manage the Sponsorship & Sales Department.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in a sponsorship & sales environment.
  • Business acumen - commercial smarts.
  • Proven relationship management experience at all levels. Ability to forge strong relationships and well connected within the business community.
  • A demonstrated leader of people and teams.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working within the sport sponsorship (AFL) environment.
  • Clear understanding of the Sydney corporate landscape with key connections.
  • Understanding of the sporting Club culture.
