NORTH Melbourne vice-captain Drew Petrie could miss the Kangaroos' first home and away game against West Coast in Perth after being cited by the match review panel for a high bump on Geelong's Darren Milburn.

Petrie collected Milburn with his shoulder during the second half of North Melbourne's 18-point loss to the Cats in Sunday's NAB Cup pool match at Skilled Stadium.

Petrie has been charged with a level one rough conduct offence, as the MRP decided he had made negligent and high contact with Milburn.

The offence attracted 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction, and because Petrie has an existing bad record of two matches suspended within the last three years, he also copped an extra loading of 20 percent.

This means that even if he lodges an early guilty plea he will still be rubbed out for one match.

Petrie has until 11am on Tuesday to decide if he will contest the charge at the tribunal.
