Another strong pre-season meant plenty was expected of Lachie Hansen heading into his fourth year at the club.

The former first round draft pick worked hard to add some kilos to his frame and more strength helped him hold down a key position in defence during the first half of 2010.

Brad Scott then called on Hansen in attack and the 22 year-old was able to respond to the challenge, booting 23 goals in his final 12 games.

Hansen's pack marking became a huge asset for the Kangaroos, highlighted by his tally of 33 contested grabs for the year; the highest at North Melbourne.

He missed the last game with a hamstring injury, but is sure to return fit and firing for 2011.

AFL.com.au’s Steve Lavell says:
Spent the first half of the season in defence, but should now focus on a forward role. A strong contested mark, he kicked five goals against Port Adelaide and bags of four on two other occasions. Having just turned 22, Hansen shapes as a star of the future.

Highlights: Round 13 v Port Adelaide - 17 possessions, 8 marks, 5 goals

Round 14 v Geelong - 12 possessions, 6 marks, 4 goals

Round 20 v St Kilda - 19 possessions, 10 marks, 4 goals
