Both have recently joined the club’s Work for the Dole Program which provides work experience for the long term unemployed in the western region.
Rosslyn, 24, and 26-year old Buong are working as gardeners on the new WOOF (Werribee Outdoor Operation Festival) projects at St Thomas Anglican Church and Uniting Care Werribee Support and Housing every Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rosslyn, who has previously completed Work for the Dole projects at Footscray and Hoppers Crossing scout centres, said taking part in the Bulldogs program gives her a sense of pride.
“This gives me the chance to put something back into the community and hopefully it will help me find full time work,” she said.
As part of the club’s commitment to the program, complimentary three game Western Bulldogs memberships have been made available to all participants this year, which means Rosslyn and Buong will be at Telstra Dome tonight cheering on the Dogs.
“I don’t get to go to the football very much so it’s a bonus of taking part in the program. I’ll be taking my friend’s son, Kai, who is four years old and a mad Bulldogs supporter,” Rosslyn said.
Operating through the club’s Registered Training Division, SpiritWest Services, current Work for the Dole projects are also being run in Yarraville, Tottenham, Bacchus Marsh and Maribyrnong.
Last year more than 200 participants took part in the program, gaining industry knowledge in hospitality, retail, warehousing and building.
