MARK WILLIAMS: At half time we just talked about continuing on with what we were doing. We told the players to respect the opposition, to fight out the game, make sure that they finish off the game. We have some guys who are going to be coming back from injury so they were going to want to put their hands up to stay in the team next week so that is a motivating factor. As for Warren, he’s big and strong. Probably because of his strength they notice that he’s not pushed out of the way easily so it’s a bit tough for him to get a free.---I thought port played very well yesterday but in the last half they slowed down a bit why was that mark Toby Thurstans played very well yesterday i thought
catherine beinke
MARK WILLIAMS: Yeah I agree, I thought Toby played well. He’s played pretty well the whole time, whether he’s acting as a ruckman or in defence. As for slowing down, people have to understand that the opposition are out there trying to stop us and they have a lot of pride in their performance as well so to win four quarters is a difficult task. We were very satisfied with the result. We did play some different players through the midfield to give them some opportunities which hopefully will improve our choices later on in the year.
--- Hey Choco, How do you balance the need for team discipline and displays of flashy individuality, particularly in front of goals?
Peter Robin
MARK WILLIAMS: It’s a tough task Peter. Danyle Pearce bouncing down the wing, having three possessions to kick a goal from way out on the forward pocket comes to mind. It went through. We’d much rather have a team showing a bit of flair than boring players. There’s always some line to be drawn and the players know where it is. I would also say that 90% of the time they get it right. They’re the ones out there making the choices, it’s a difficult game and sometimes they make mistakes.---CHOCO’S PLAYER OF THE DAY: Peter BurgoyneMARK WILLIAMS: I thought it was a pretty line ball between Chad and Peter. Chad’s been playing exceptionally well for three or four weeks in a row now. Peter had his best game for the year. I think he had five goal assists and kicked one or two himself. He won clearances and tackled hard, so I’ll have to go with Peter. You can win a $29 PrePay recharge voucher and $9.95 starter pack thanks to Vodafone, as well as a $50 Power Gear Shop voucher by predicting Choco’s player of the day.
