NORTH Melbourne has secured the services of promising youngster Jack Ziebell for a further three years.

Ziebell was North Melbourne's first round draft selection in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft, pick No.9 overall, and played 10 of the first 12 games of last year before breaking his leg against Adelaide in round 12 and missing the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old said he was pleased to be able to stay with the Roos and continue to develop with other talented youngsters on the list.

"North Melbourne is where I want to play my football," Ziebell told kangaroos.com.au.

"The group we have at the club is amazingly talented and I want us all to stick together because I believe we could be heading toward something pretty special in the near future."

Ziebell is also pleased that the contract negotiations were sorted out early so he can concentrate on his football for the rest of the season.

North Melbourne's list and strategy manager Cameron Joyce said Ziebell's signing was a show of confidence in where the club is heading.

"Jack's commitment should resonate strongly among our young group and all our players should be delighted that he's chosen to extend his agreement," Joyce said.

"The future of this club was already looking bright but this latest development has just pushed it to the next level."

Jack Ziebell is a $285,600 forward/midfielder in this year's Toyota AFL Dream Team.
