North Melbourne take on the Brisbane Lions at Docklands this Saturday afternoon, and after two wins from the past three games, there is plenty of competition for spots in the side.

Brisbane currently sit in sixth position on the ladder, and look to be a big challenge for the Kangaroos youngsters after pushing St Kilda all the way last week.

Forward Matt Campbell looks the most likely to return from a hamstring injury sustained in Round 7, while Lachie Hansen and Daniel Pratt are also pressing to get back onto the park after extended breaks through injury.

Draftee Liam Anthony is likely to return through Werribee if he can prove his fitness, while Captain Brent Harvey is still at least seven weeks away from a comeback.

In the VFL, North Ballarat sit third on the table largely thanks to some good form from North Melbourne's affiliate players.

Corey Jones and Josh Smith have proven a strong combination in the Roosters forward line. Jones had 22 possessions and kicked two goals in their win over Casey, while Smith pulled down 11 marks and kicked three goals.

Cruize Garlett continues to put his hand up for a promotion to the senior list, and his form on Sunday was again impressive; 28 possessions, and 11 handball receives surely catching the eye of Dean Laidley and the North Melbourne coaching staff.

At Werribee, Levi Greenwood must be close to a senior recall after being voted best on ground again this week. Greenwood's defensive pressure was a standout despite his team's dissapointing performance.

After being omitted from the North Melbourne team for Round 9, Matt Riggio fought back strongly for the Tigers with 18 possessions and 8 tackles, while Daniel Harris, perhaps unlucky to be dropped last week, racked up six clearances and had 20 possessions for the day to put his best foot forward.
