THE BRISBANE Lions have re-signed three of their younger players in the wake of losing key midfielder Michael Rischitelli to Gold Coast on Tuesday.

Vice-captain Jed Adcock, forward Todd Banfield and defender James Hawksley have all signed new deals to stay at the Lions.

The club has not revealed the length of the trio's new contracts.

Adcock, 24, played just nine senior games in 2010 but he remains a key member of the side after 100 games in seven seasons.

Banfield was a sensation up forward for the Lions in his second season, playing all 22 games and finishing third on the club's goalkicking table. The 20-year-old's fine form was recognised with a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination in round six.

Hawksley, 21, played 11 games in his fourth season at the club and will continue his development as part of the Lions' back six.

The Lions' national talent manager, Rob Kerr, said signings were a step towards securing the club's future.

"Obviously Jed has been a key component of our side for a number of years now and we see both Todd and James playing a big role at the Lions in the long-term," he said.

"We're also close to finalising details on some other player contracts and look forward to announcing these additional signings in the coming weeks."
