COLLINGWOOD duo Travis Cloke and Alan Didak have earned nominationsfor the AFL Army Award after displaying exceptional acts of desperation andcommitment in the match against the Sydney Swans in round 12.
The AFL Army Award recognises the extra efforts andone-percent acts of individuals that help the team to victory.
Didak exerted that extra effort and applied back-to-backsmothers against Swans playmaker Ryan O’Keefe. Didak first spoiled a kick byO’Keefe and then backed it up with another desperate smother while beingtackled to the ground.
Cloke was nominated for this week’s AFL Army Award after displayingoutstanding perseverance, first by intercepting a kick-in and forcing the ballto the ground, and then backing it up with an exceptional, ball-winning tackleon Swan Paul Bevan to receive the free kick.

New to the 2007 season, the Army Award aims to recognise andreward the one percent style acts such as game breaking smothers, tackles andshepherds.
At the end of the home and away season, the AFL All-AustralianSelection Committee will shortlist the 22 weekly winning acts to sixnominations which will then be voted on by the public via afl.com.au.The All-Australian selection committee will then endorse the winner.
In 2007, the AFL Army Award winner will receive a $10,000Army Experience. The award will be officially presented at the 2007 Coca-ColaAll Australian presentation dinner.
