A Magpies great and member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, McKenna played 180 games for Collingwood between 1965 and ’76.
He won the club’s best-and-fairest in 1970 and was its leading goalkicker eight times.
But McKenna is hoping the current-day Magpies players don’t suffer the same heartbreak he did on the last Saturday in September.
He played in the famous 1970 grand final, in which Collingwood lost to Carlton after having enjoyed a 44-point lead at half-time.
Neale, meanwhile, was a star in St Kilda’s only premiership team, which beat the Magpies by a point in the 1966 decider.
The man known as “Cowboy” booted five goals in that game, cementing his place in Saints’ folklore.
The other highlights of Neale’s 256-game career included taking out the St Kilda best-and-fairest in 1973, and being the club’s leading goalkicker four times.
Neale was named in the back pocket in St Kilda’s team of the century.
