Harvey revealed post-match that he had given Dunn some 'advice' and was pleased that his opponent had been cited twice in 20 seconds by umpire Scott McLaren for striking him.
"I guess a lot of things happen in footy that you guys don't find out about and that's what probably happens every single game – people chatting to their opposition or opposition players," Harvey said to the media at Arden St on Tuesday.
"I was asked about that (Harvey's comments to Dunn) by a reporter: 'What did I say to him?' I made the comments and it doesn't bother me a great deal. I didn't think it was a huge issue."
It is understood that Melbourne has since put a case to the League's umpiring department, arguing that Harvey was staging for free kicks and that there was a similar issue when the clubs met in round four.
"I would have thought they've got bigger problems than worrying about whether we dive or not," North Melbourne captain Adam Simpson said. "I can guarantee it's not an issue with us.
"Brent Harvey's had 12 free kicks for the year. If he's been diving, it hasn't been working."
"The umpires have been pretty good this year actually," Harvey added. "I've certainly got no complaints.
"I don't think they're favouring taggers or the players getting tagged."
However, Harvey was surprised by word the Demons had pursued the issue and also felt that it was an attack on his club.
"I might have done that (staged for a free kick) five or six years ago [but] I reckon I've improved as a player in the last four or five years," he said. "I reckon I'm past that, I don't think I do that. That's up to them to follow that through.
"All the boys are going to support us. I don't think it's just on me, I think it's on the North Melbourne footy club. We're not just going to stand here and cop everything."
Harvey dubbed Dunn "selfish" on Sunday, feedback that encouraged the Demon to lash out in the third quarter of the game.
And they're tactics Harvey will employ again to put a tagger off.
"They're tactics I use every single week," he said. "I can promise you that I'm not the only one, not from our team but from opposition teams. Speak to Brady Rawlings and see what he cops every single week.
"What I said was something so small and I can't believe it's been in the paper the last couple of days.
"I won't change my game. Whoever I get I'll probably say stuff to."
One of Dunn's charges was thrown out by the match review panel on Monday, while he accepted a reprimand for the other on Tuesday morning.
