FAST FOOTY FACTS
Hawthorn has not beaten the Lions at the Gabba since Round 18 of Season 2000.

The Lions and Hawks currently have the two most dangerous forward-line duos in the competition. Hawthorn team-mates Lance Franklin (21 goals) and Jarryd Roughead (12 goals) have kicked 33 goals between them in four matches this season while Daniel Bradshaw (16 goals) and Jonathan Brown (13 goals) have combined for 29 goals. All four players are among the league’s top ten goal-kickers for 2008.

Luke Power currently leads the AFL in tackles with 30.

Jonathan Brown has kicked a total of 15 goals in his last three matches against the Hawks.

The Lions’ last quarter score of 9.6 (60) against Port Adelaide last Saturday night was the Club’s third highest since the merger in 1997.

The Lions’ 67-point turnaround against Port Adelaide was the Club’s biggest and the 7th greatest in VFL/AFL history. The Lions trailed by as many as 47 points late in the third quarter before running out 20-point winners.

The Lions have lost three of their four first quarters this season by a combined total of 68 points.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Hawthorn ended the Lions’ impressive late season five-game winning streak with a commanding 24-point victory at the MCG.

The Hawks set the pace in the third term kicking seven goals to the Lions’ two and were never threatened from that point onwards.

The Lions wore the popular 1996 Fitzroy Guernsey for their Victorian members and supporters to commemorate the Club’s Kings of the Pride reunion function held that night after the game.

Jonathan Brown was a shining light for the visitors, finishing the afternoon with six goals as a lone hand up forward. Luke Power and Nigel Lappin were also prominent in the midfield.

Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin proved the real difference, kicking a bag of five goals on a variety of different opponents including a miracle snap from the boundary line right on half-time.
