A selection of Brisbane Lions players returned to the Club today - just two days after the 2010 AFL premiership decider - to commence their preparation for the upcoming Shanghai Showdown Exhibition Match against Melbourne.
The Lions will face the Demons in the first ever AFL exhibition match played in China on Sunday 17 October as part of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.
Nearly half of the Lions' playing list will spend the next week undergoing a range of training activities under the watchful eye of new Physical Performance Manager Brett Burton before flying out to Shanghai on Tuesday 12 October.
With only a small group of players back at the Club, there are no planned open training sessions as most of the focus will rest on the players' conditioning for China.
It has been almost five weeks since the players began their post-season break and they will receive a further three weeks holiday upon returning from Shanghai.
The entire group will return to the Gabba to officially commence pre-season training on Monday 8 November.
Keep posted to lions.com.au for regular updates on the team's 'Road to China' throughout the next week.
