SYDNEY Swans forward Barry Hall has been sent straight to the tribunal on a charge of striking West Coast's Brent Staker while five other players were suspended for round four indiscretions.
The match review panel referred Hall directly to the tribunal due to the severity of the offence. His hit on Staker was assessed as being intentional conduct, having severe impact and being high contact.
Hall, who has no existing record, collected Staker on the jaw during the opening term of Saturday night's game at ANZ Stadium.
But the Swans' premiership forward may not be able to make his hearing after undergoing surgery on a broken wrist late on Monday.
Sydney Swans' next opponent Geelong were the other big losers out of the match review panel's findings with two players facing suspension.
Cameron Mooney was charged with a level two tripping offence on St Kilda's Leigh Montagna and offered a one-game suspension that cannot be reduced with an early plea owing to his previous poor record.
And emerging Cat forward Ryan Gamble was given a two-week ban for striking Nick Dal Santo. An early plea would reduce the initial sentence to just one match.
Melbourne's Brad Miller was offered a one-match suspension for rough conduct against North Melbourne's Daniel Pratt. Miller cannot have his sanction reduced owing to a previous poor record.
Collingwood defender Nick Maxwell is also in jeopardy of missing the Pies' Saturday night clash with the Roos after being charged with striking Marc Murphy in the first term of Sunday's loss to Carlton.
The clash was deemed to be a level four offence however Maxwell an early plea would see the Magpie be suspended for just one game owing to an existing five-year good record.
Fremantle's Steven Dodd was charged with tripping Richmond's Jack Riewoldt, and will have to go to the tribunal in order to play this week against the Crows. An early plea would not see Dodd's one-game penalty reduced owing to his previous bad record.
Adelaide's Nathan Bassett was offered a reprimand and 60 carry-over demerit points for his clash with Hawthorn's Rick Ladson in the fourth quarter at Aurora Stadium on Sunday.
And Friday night's Essendon-Western Bulldogs clash has emerged as an expensive outing for Bomber Sam Lonergan and Bulldog Brad Johnson with the pair charged with a first offence for making negligent contact with an umpire.
Both offended in the third quarter of the match and have been offered fines of $1950 with early guilty pleas.
Other incidents that were assessed but thrown out by the match review panel were Carlton's Nick Stevens for striking Collingwood's Alan Didak, Essendon's Nathan Lovett-Murray for making contact with Bulldog Ryan Hargrave, Geelong's Trent West for making contact with St Kilda's Xavier Clarke, Collinwood's Dale Thomas for making contact with Carlton's Stevens and Fremantle's Chris Tarrant for making contact with Richmond's Kelvin Moore.
