PORT ADELAIDE has held on to its prized No. 4 draft pick and also added selection 42 to its plans after a largely uneventful exchange period.

The Power and Richmond orchestrated the first deal of the week with midfielder Adam Thomson leaving Alberton in exchange for the third-round selection.

Port Adelaide, which has already made two changes to its 2008 list through the retirements of Michael Wilson and Hugh Minson, must delist one more player in line with AFL requirements.

This will allow the Power to utilise at least three picks - four, 22 and 38 - in the November 29 draft.

The more players the club parts ways with, the more selections it can make from this year's highly-rated pool.

Clubs have until Friday, October 31, to finalise their first list lodgements.

This list can contain a maximum of 35 players and must include any promoted or retained rookies.
