It was an exciting surprise for Yarra Valley Saints fans Steve and Ros, who were holidaying in New Zealand when they heard the Saints would be holding a training session in Queenstown.

“I took a week off work and thought it would be a great break to come to New Zealand” Ros said. Little did she know that her beloved Saints would be training in the same country that she and Steve were holidaying in.

A Saints fan since she was four years old, Ros mentioned that her love of the Saints even extends to her animals at home, where she has a blonde foul named Clint, a cat called Zac and a kitten named Nicky.

It’s no surprise that one of Ros’ animals is named after Zac Dawson, with the Saints defender being sponsored by Ros in season 2011.

“Zac is one of my favourites and it’s been great being able to come to Queenstown and watch the boys train today” she said.

While Ros is a self confessed Saints fan, it wasn’t the same path for Steve early on. “I was originally a Carlton supporter but have since been converted” he said.

“Although Ros seems to think I’m bad luck because every time I wear St Kilda colours on the day when the team plays, they lose” Steve joked.

It was a great part of Steve and Ros’ trip to New Zealand who head back to Melbourne today, gearing up for an exciting year of Saints Footy.
