Versatile big man Mitch Brown has reclaimed his position in attack as the West Coast Eagles match committee searches for solutions in the lead-up to the clash with Geelong at Subiaco Oval on Saturday night.

Brown has been included at the expense of Quinten Lynch, a reversal of fortunes at round five when the Big Q was recalled from WAFL action to take on the role in the goal square.

After three games where he kicked 12 goals, either side of a club bye and then a general rest for an interstate match, Brown has forced his way back into the team and will be keen to establish himself as the man for the role as Josh Kennedy’s tall side kick.

The match committee has juggled the forward structure around, with Lynch, Ben McKinley, Ashley Hansen and Mark LeCras variously slotting in around Kennedy, without really settling on the right combination.

Also injected into the team for this show-down with the competition benchmark are defender Lewis Stevenson and wingman Bradd Dalziell. They come in at the expense of Pat McGinnity and Mark Nicoski.

Stevenson, elevated off the rookie list for the round five game against Sydney, played three games before missing the clash with St Kilda a fortnight ago because of a hip injury. He then played at Claremont last week, picking up his WAFL form where he left off, gathering around 30 possessions in a best-on-ground effort against Peel.

Stevenson has been a dominant force for the Tigers in the WAFL and will be looking to emulate that touch when he resumes his senior career.

Dalziell, recruited to the club in the trade that saw Brent Staker head to Brisbane, has been in and out of the team in the first 10 weeks, playing just four games, but will be looking to secure an extended run in the team from this round forward.

He, too, has been a prolific ball-winner at WAFL level, consistently tallying around 30 touches for East Fremantle. He offers the team run and energy which it has lacked on some occasions this season and he will be anxious to produce his best against the Cats.
