In a world first, the Demons have named two members in this week’s team to take on the Lions.
17 year-old Harriet Cordner promises to add some flair to the side, while mature aged rookie Ron Wenzler will add plenty of passion to the team.
The two were selected from over 200 members who entered a competition to be a part of our Round 5 team, and will run through their very own banner onto the MCG before Saturday night’s game against Brisbane.
Of the opportunity to run onto the MCG for the Melbourne Football Club, Wenzler said, “There's nothing I wouldn't do for the red and blue. I haven’t been this excited in a long time.”
Cordner, a descendent of 1948 premiership captain Don Cordner, talked up her prospects of kicking a couple of goals on debut, declaring, “I’ll bring my own dash, vigour, and of course, my spectacular marking to the forward line.”
