Geelong coach Mark Thompson says winning on the road is one of the few areas his side has yet to achieve in 2004, adding that the Cats are desperate to open their account against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

Of Geelong's six losses this season, four have been outside of Victoria and Thompson said at Skilled Stadium on Wednesday that gaining the four points in round 21 was 'super important'.

"We haven't won playing interstate that often in the last two years, so it's really important that we learn to win at the interstate venues," Thompson said.

"I think as your side gets better, you end up winning more interstate and we are developing as a team, so hopefully we'll have more wins interstate.

"That's the last thing that we haven't accomplished this year. We've overcome a lot of things and challenges this year and one thing that we still haven't done is win interstate. From that point of view, it's an important game."

Thompson said the team's routine would alter slightly for its trip to Adelaide, with one approach being that all players will have their own room, rather than sharing with a teammate.

"To be honest, we've done a lot of work (in this area). Our fitness and conditioning guy has spent a bit of time researching it and we're doing a few things different this time," Thompson said.

"We're not going to train on the Friday where we normally have a session. We're just going to travel because of the stress and watch a bit more careful planning with the food and everything else."

"We've been playing reasonable footy and we've been in games and (been) very close to winning, but ultimately you get very disappointed if you don't win."

Thompson said midfielder/defender David Wojcinski would return this week from a groin injury, which forced him to miss the round 20 clash against Fremantle.
