GEELONG might not have a 100-goal a season full-forward parked in the goal square each week, but the club uses that to its advantage, according to Cameron Mooney.

Speaking after a 39-point win against the Sydney Swans at ANZ Stadium, the Cats' nominal spearhead said his side's versatility was one of its strengths.

"That's always been the key to us," Mooney said.

"We don't have a guy like a 'Buddy' Franklin, or anyone who's going to kick 80, 90, 100 goals, so we try to spread it out and I think it makes it a lot harder for teams to know where the ball's going, really."

And so it proved in the win against the Swans as the Cats poured on 20 goals from 11 different goalkickers, with no one kicking more than three.

Mooney said he and fellow forward Steve Johnson had engaged in a battle to lead the club's scoring assists, illustrating the unselfish mentality at the club.

He also described the constant battle for places in a side that appears set for a long finals campaign as "massive".

"You've got guys like Byrnes and Gamble that have just come in and they've played well," he said.

"It's a huge battle for them and for younger players – Prismall's one of them – you get these guys playing good footy and it makes the older guys play well and it gets the whole club playing well."

Despite racking up 19 wins from 20 games this season, Mooney said the Geelong players were far from complacent about their sustained success.

"As soon as you take your foot off the pedal in this game, it bites you in the arse pretty quick, so we just set ourselves every week to play that game on its merits," he said.

"[When] you start looking too far ahead, that's when things go start going wrong.

"All it is for us is one week at a time. I know it's boring, but that's the way we're going at the moment."

Geelong will play its last two home-and-away games at Skilled Stadium against North Melbourne (round 21) and West Coast (round 22), and it comes as something of a relief to the players, if Mooney's reaction is anything to go by.

"We always have great games against [North Melbourne]. Thank God we've got them at home," he said.

"We've got the next couple of weeks at home, which is nice to finish off the season."
