In the 2007 AFL Membership Census, AFL Members indicated their preferences for purchasing reserved seats with the results as follows:

  • 66% of respondents prefer to reserve a seat one month prior to the match
  • 20% of respondents do not reserve a seat and prefer to walk up on the day of the match
  • 14% of respondents prefer to reserve a seat for all their matches at the beginning of the season

As a compromise for Members who do prefer to pre-book reserved seats for all matches at the start of the season, a two-day online sale was introduced in 2007. In 2008, a limited seat, limited day, online sale will once again occur as an alternative to the monthly on-sales.

AFL Members will have access to pre-purchase their reserved seating for all matches scheduled at the MCG and Telstra Dome for Rounds 1 through to 22 with the special three-day online on sale.

A limited range of tickets for each match of the entire season will be open to purchase online only from 9am, Saturday February 23 until 5pm, Monday February 25.

A maximum number of 1500 reserved seats will be available for MCG matches across all levels, and a maximum number of 300 level 1 seats will be available for matches at Telstra Dome. Once the ticket allocation for each match has been exhausted, AFL Members will not be able to pre-reserve a seat for their requested match until the monthly on sale date, on the first Saturday of the month, one month prior to the match.

We suggest that if members do not wish to reserve seats for the entire season that the monthly on-sales will be a more time efficient option of pre-booking.
